Sunskritha R Shivaprasad (b.2007) is a surrealism artist and author of TheArtGene who explores themes of human nature and human experience while incorporating aspects of biology and literature. Born in Broomfield, Colorado, and raised in Cary, North Carolina, Sunskritha has lived in Bangalore, India since 2015. Her artistic journey began during her early childhood, and she continues to create compelling pieces that examine human experience, connection, and the world’s gray areas. Combining acrylics with other media, her work reflects a deep exploration of the complexities of human life.
A 12th grader at Vidya Niketan School, Sunskritha is passionate about pursuing a degree in Biology, focusing on Cell & Molecular Biology. Her research delves into Salmonella biofilm formation and the potential of Metal-organic frameworks. As the winner of the American Society for Microbiology’s 2023 Agar Art Contest, Sunskritha bridges the gap between art and science through her blog, The Art Gene. Her vision is to explore symbiotic relationships between organisms and technology, contributing to a sustainable safer world.
